Valves for Energy and Steam

In boiler rooms, on steam and condensate lines and in power plants, valves operate at high temperature. Material suited to the temperature is selected; a strainer is fitted at the line inlet and a check valve against backflow. Below you can find our valves for energy and steam applications and the main features of each type.

How to Select Valves for Energy and Steam

When you select valves for energy and steam applications, the body material must suit the temperature and pressure of the line. As the temperature rises, the permissible working pressure of a valve decreases, so pressure and temperature are always evaluated together on steam lines. Our saturated steam pressure–temperature table, steam table and steam capacity by pipe size table help with line and valve selection.

Boiler Rooms, Steam and Condensate Lines

Steel ball valves and high pressure ball valves are used in boiler rooms, on steam and condensate lines and in power plants. The valve is selected according to the pressure class of the line; our product range extends from PN 6 to Class 2500. A check valve prevents backflow, and needle valves are also among the products used on these lines. During installation, the arrow on the body of the check valve, strainer and steam trap must point in the flow direction.

A Strainer at the Line Inlet

A strainer installed at the inlet of a steam line holds the dirt in the line before it reaches the valve and the steam trap. Strainers are manufactured in PN 16, PN 25, PN 40 and Class 300.

Thermodynamic Steam Trap and Flow Indicator

A thermodynamic steam trap discharges the condensate that forms in a steam line. To select a steam trap, the steam inlet pressure, the lift height and back pressure after the trap, the condensate line pressure and the condensate quantity must be known; water hardness should not exceed 5 French degrees. A flow indicator allows you to check visually whether the steam trap is working.

A History That Began with the Steam Trap

Batusan started in 1978 by manufacturing the steam trap, which until then had been imported. Today, valves for energy and steam are an important part of our product range.
