Valves for LPG Facilities

At LPG filling and distribution stations, at tank outlets and in LPG installations, fire safety and antistatic design are the first requirements of a valve. The fire-safe Burak type mono-block ball valve is the leading choice in this field. Below you can find our valves for LPG facilities and the main features of each type.

How to Select Valves for LPG Facilities

When you select valves for LPG facilities, fire safety, antistatic design and the pressure class of the line are evaluated together. On lines carrying flammable media, a valve is expected to keep its tightness both in normal operation and in abnormal conditions. For this reason, different valve types are used together at LPG filling and distribution stations, at tank outlets and on installation lines.

Fire-Safe Design

In fire-safe ball valves, tightness is first provided by soft (PTFE) seats; if the soft elements are damaged, the metal seat closes on the ball and the graphite fire-safe ring comes into play. Batusan started production of the fire-safe Burak type ball valve in 1999, especially for LPG and LNG projects.

Antistatic and Anti-Blowout Design

On lines carrying flammable media, static charge must not build up on the ball. A spring and ball in the stem transfer the charge through the body to the pipeline. In the anti-blowout design, the stem has a wide bottom flange, so even if the stem retainers and seals are removed, pressure cannot push the stem out.

Burak Type Mono Block Ball Valve

The Burak type mono block ball valve has a one-piece body and is installed between two flanges. It is easy to install, has a low pressure loss, is light and takes up little space; two-way, three-way and jacketed types are available. It is manufactured from DN 15 to DN 250 in PN 16 and PN 40, and from DN 15 to DN 200 in Class 150 and Class 300. These features make it one of the most preferred valves for LPG facilities.

Installation Valves and Strainers

Natural gas ball valves manufactured to TS EN 331 and TS 9809 in PN 16 – PN 40 are also used as distribution and service valves in LPG installations. To protect the line from dirt, a strainer is installed upstream of the valves; strainers are manufactured in PN 16, PN 25, PN 40 and Class 300. On high pressure lines, API 6D ball valves are preferred: they are manufactured to API 6D and ASME B16.34 in ANSI Class 150 – 2500 and tested to API 6D, API 598, API 6FA and ISO 10497.
